About us
Auxilior is an independent business consultancy which was founded to provide small and medium sized enterprise (SME) clients with affordable, flexible finance solutions.
Emerging and growing businesses have as much need for an effective finance function as well as established businesses. The challenge smaller organisations face, however, is how to afford finance staff with the experience and skills necessary to help them grow.
We provide services up to Finance Director level, either on an on-going part-time basis or for specific projects, to businesses with turnover between £250,000 and £25 million.
Auxilior Consulting was founded in 2009 by James Hoyer Millar.
After reading Mechanical Engineering at Edinburgh University, James qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in London. His clients ranged from a multinational bank to small film production companies.
James moved to BMG Entertainment, spending five years in various senior Finance Manager roles, before becoming FD of Eagle Rock Entertainment in 1998. While at Eagle Rock, James helped steer the group through the challenges of opening two overseas offices, integrating an acquisition, and financing the rapid growth in the business, culminating in a VC funded buyout of the group.
In 2004, James moved to Scotland. He has since worked as part-time FD for several companies in the engineering and manufacturing sectors, helping, among other things, to improve their working capital management and cashflow and enhance their profitability.
James has a wealth of experience of all aspects of business planning, forecasting, and financial management. His practical, hands-on approach combined with a relaxed, personable management style enable him to form effective working relationships across a business and to collaborate openly and effectively with clients.
